Hilton has unveiled its latest London property under the Curio Collection brand, located opposite Stratford International station.
The hotel is housed within an 18-storey building which “sports a delicate yet distinctive exterior frame formed by slim vertical fins reminiscent of railway lines”, and which “draws inspiration from New York’s famous Flatiron building, with its narrow triangular footprint”.
Facilities include 291 rooms featuring “copper and dark metal furnishings with natural wooden and velvety textures”, as well as first floor dining venue Union Social with cocktail bar and open kitchen.
The hotel sits above The Stratford Grocer and Co – a food market, deli and coffee shop – and in spring 2022 a rooftop bar and restaurant will open on the property’s 18th floor.
The Gantry London is located at 40 Celebration Avenue, a few minutes’ walk from Westfield Stratford City shopping centre. Stratford station on the far east side of the centre offers links to central London and Canary Wharf via the Central Line and Docklands Light Railway.
The Gantry will be the sixth Curio hotel in London, joining the recently rebranded Westminster London (previously known as the Doubletree by Hilton London Westminster), as well as The Trafalgar St James, 100 Queen’s Gate, Lincoln Plaza and Hart Shoreditch.
Commenting on the news Stephen Cassidy, senior vice president and managing director, UK and Ireland, Hilton, said:
“With almost 60 Curio Collection by Hilton hotels trading or in development across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, we are pleased to open this incredible property as the brand’s sixth London hotel.
“Over the past ten years, Stratford has cemented its position as a lively cultural hotspot, thanks to world-class shopping experiences, a wide range of exceptional drinking and dining options – as well as, of course, its role as the home of the 2012 Olympics.
“These qualities, together with the hotel’s proximity to major business hubs such as Canary Wharf and the City of London, make the hotel a fantastic option for both business and leisure travellers.”
