The Kimpton brand has officially debuted in France with the opening of the Kimpton St Honoré Paris.

The hotel occupies the former Samaritaine de Luxe department store, a 1917 Art Nouveau building on Boulevard des Capucines in the Opera district. It has been transformed into a luxury hotel by French architect and interior designer Charles Zana, retaining the spirit of the 1930s art deco scene.

The 123 rooms and 26 suites draw inspiration from Parisian apartments, and feature balconies, floor-to-ceiling windows and selected works of art. Meanwhile, original features such as the staircase and wooden elevator have been restored.

The ground floor houses Montecito Restaurant and Bar, designed by Humbert and Poyet. The restaurant offers “a contemporary take on a relaxed brasserie” with cuisine from America’s Pacific West Coast. Signature dishes include fish tacos, langoustine tostada, and beef asada, while it serves acai bowls and pancakes for breakfast and brunch.

The 10th floor is home to rooftop bar and garden Sequoia, also designed by Zana, which offers panoramic views over the Paris rooftops and monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and Opéra Garnier.

Meanwhile, the Mezzanine Library holds the brand’s daily Social Hour daily at 5pm, where guests can meet over complimentary drinks, and also offers coffee from Parisian roasters Lomi and tea from Kusmi Tea during the day.

The hotel also has an indoor heated swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a spa with two treatment rooms by French brand Codage. Guests can borrow bikes to explore the area thanks to a partnership with local, family-owned shop La Roue Libre, while the pet-friendly hotel has collaborated with luxury dog treat company Bonne and Filou to provide dog macarons upon arrival at the hotel.

Christophe Laure, Area General Manager of IHG Hotels and Resorts commented:

“Paris is renowned for its art, design and rich culture which is why it’s a great location for the newest Kimpton opening, a global flagship. Kimpton St Honoré Paris brings a new luxury offering to Paris – defying traditional boundaries with quiet confidence, easy-going elegance and the light-heartedness of Parisian chic.”

The IHG Hotels and Resorts brand currently has 75 Kimpton hotels open around the world, with another 32 in the pipeline. These include the forthcoming Kimpton Koh Samui, the second Kimpton hotel in Thailand which is set to open in 2021, along with the forthcoming Kimpton Naranta Bali and Kimpton Sydney.

The hotel group announced today that its new lifestyle and luxury brand, the Vignette Collection, will debut in Australia and Thailand.
