Hilton has announced plans to open its first property in the northern Spanish resort town of San Sebastian.
Palacio Bellas Artes Hotel San Sebastian, Curio Collection by Hilton will be housed within the former Fine Arts Theatre in the Amara district of the city, and is scheduled to open in 2024.
The theatre was built in 1914 under architect Ramon Cortazar, a founder of the Basque style of design.
The hotel will feature 82 rooms including eight suites, as well as meeting space, a fitness centre, bar and restaurant.
Hilton’s Curio brand launched in 2014, and last year passed the milestone of 100 properties worldwide.
There are now over 115 hotels open under the brand, with notable forthcoming Curio hotels include Lost Property Hotel in London’s St Paul’s, and Sea Breeze Santorini Beach Resort – both of which are scheduled to open this summer.
Palacio Bellas Artes Hotel San Sebastian will join existing Curio properties in Spain including Casa Alberola Alicante, Higueron Hotel Malaga, and Alexandra Barcelona Hotel.
Commenting on the news Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said,
“San Sebastian is a city which has a wealth of cultural attractions, making it the perfect home for Curio Collection by Hilton. From its thriving restaurant scene – featuring more Michelin stars per square metre than any other global city – to its lively pintxo bars, jazz festival and food markets – our international guests will enjoy soaking up the atmosphere while exploring the city.
“Curio Collection by Hilton has grown exponentially across Europe, with new openings this year in Lisbon, Madrid, Santorini, Krakow, London and Reykjavik, and Palacio Bellas Artes Hotel San Sebastian, Curio Collection by Hilton is a very welcome addition to the expanding portfolio of 190 hotels trading or under development around the world.”
