2020年底前其實已經在台北W飯店住了六次，本來沒有考慮到飯店跨年，但因為在臉書社團看到有人分享跨年點房有釋出，一時手癢就不小心訂了兩晚，第一晚是現金房，第二晚就用6萬點的點數兌換，訂的都是最基本的奇妙客房，看不到台北101。我第一次在台北W飯店跨年的體驗就獻給了這特別的2020和2021。
I have stayed at W Taipei for six times before the end of 2020. I did not consider to celebrate the New Year’s Eve at a hotel until I saw a post in a Facebook Group about the availability of reward rooms in W Taipei. I booked the hotel immediately with cash for the first night and 60,000 points for the second night. Both nights were booked for the most basic guest room – Wonderful Room, without Taipei 101 view. Hence, my first New Year’s Eve experience in W Taipei was dedicated to the special year of 2020 and 2021.
台北W飯店平常就人山人海，12月30日當天約下午兩點左右辦理入住，當時還沒有很多人，問了升等的機會，被告知因為跨年夜是非常特別日期，所以要升到面對台北101的客房需要加價台幣2萬5千元，聽到這樣的價格我當然花不下去，於是就被安排高樓層面對大直美麗華的房間。迎賓禮可選1000點萬豪點數或是一日雙人早餐，我選了12月31日的早餐，我告訴接待人員我不需要晚退房，於是親切的接待小姐告訴我會另外贈送我3千點的點數答謝，畢竟新年當天的訂房也是很滿。
It has always been crowded in W Taipei. But when I checked in around 2pm on 30 December, it was not that crowded. I asked about the room upgrade opportunity. The hotel replied that an additional charge of NT$25,000 is required for room upgrade to the room with Taipei 101 view on this special occasion. Definitely I would not pay such price for the room upgrade. My room was then arranged to be at high floor facing Miramar Da-Zhi. Welcome gift can be chosen between 1,000 Marriott points or one-day two person breakfast. I selected the breakfast for 31 December. The cordial receptionist said the hotel would offer me 3,000 points since I did not request late check out as the hotel was also quite full on New Year’s Day.
之前入住台北W飯店，不是被升等為套房就是有台北101的景觀房，這次是第一次入住最基本的房型，因為高樓層的關係，其實景色也不錯。
I usually got room upgrade to suite or rooms with Taipei 101 view before. So this was my first time in the basic guest room. Actually the view was not that bad because the room was at high floor.
跨年當天的早餐用餐人數感覺沒有很多人，大部分的人都遵守規矩戴口罩拿菜。下午開始飯店的人就開始多了，飯店附近的人群也漸漸多了起來。晚上索性就叫客房服務，跟媽媽在房間裡用餐。
The restaurant was not that crowded during the breakfast time on the day before New Year. Most people wore masks when taking food. More and more people arrived the hotel from the afternoon, and crowds started gathering around the hotel. I ordered room service in the evening and enjoyed the meals with Mom in the room.
飯店當日的跨年派對因為疫情關係取消，但是餐廳還是提供給預訂的客人使用，當晚艷吧每桌低消是三萬元，雖然不便宜，但應該還是一位難求，看來W台北真的是大賺跨年財。今年也因為疫情關係，市政府周遭人數比往年少了許多，飯店也在晚上實施進出控管，房客和邀請的朋友必須配戴飯店發放的紙手環才能進出，在倒數前刻，忠孝東路也聚集了不少人，我也走到忠孝東路上欣賞台北101的跨年煙火。
W Taipei cancelled the New Year’s Party due to the Conoravirus. But people who made reservations still can enjoy the meals and fireworks at the restaurants. The minimum spending for one table in Yen Bar is NT$30,000. It was not cheap, but I believe it was fully booked. W Taipei seems to earn a lot for the New Year’s Eve. It was not as crowded as before due to the pandemic. The hotel carried out entrance control from the evening. Only guests and invited friends who wore the paper wristband were allowed to enter the hotel. The crowds started gathering on the road before the countdown. I also walked to the street to watch the Taipei 101 fireworks.
欣賞完煙火後直接走回飯店休息睡覺真的很方便，這是我第一次在W台北跨年的體驗，非常滿意，飯店人員真的是很辛苦，也看得出他們管理的用心。新的一年祝福大家都平安快樂！
It was really convenient walking back to the hotel to rest right after the fireworks. I was very satisfied with the experience of my first New Year’s Eve in W Taipei. Obviously the hotel staff and managers spent a lot of efforts keeping everything under control. Wish everyone a safe and happy new year!
